"3,2,1, ready or not, here i come." Shouted little Mary as she pulled her hands from her face and opened her eyes. "Where would
he be." she thought while she was looking around the barnyard, searching for her older brother Billy who was supposed to hide this
time. She first searched around the small barn and near the dog kennel, then behind the old Ford Tractor her dad was trying to
repair to its former glory, although rust appeared to be winning the battle.
as she walked around the yard looking for Billy everywhere she came to the toolshed. as she looked up she saw Billy standing up straigt
on the rooftop. "No fair Billy, you were supposed to hide!!" She screamed at her older brother with a frown on her face.
But Billy didn't
seem to pay attention to her at all. He was focussed on the mountains on the horizon, with behind that, the city of Denver. "What is it
Billy?"she asked: "What are you looking at?" But there was no reply.
As little Mary climbed her way up to the rooftop, using the old wooden ladder that has been there for as long as she knew, she asked Billy
again what he was looking at. All Billy could do was point his finger to the horizon, in the general direction of Denver, to the giant
mushroom cloud that rose into the sky.
For 23 cities, this event ment the end of their existance, beeing reduced to little more than a pile of rubble and dust. In some suburbs the
the building may still stand, but they look like ghost towns now. Mighty skyscrapers lay in pieces, the roofs of most shopping malls are gone
and the roads are hazardess to drive due to debry, not to mention the radiation levels.
As for the people of those cities, this event marked the end of their lives. Or at least the live that they knew. Most towns near the cities got
hit by the fallout that rained down on them. This fallout contaminated large portions of land and poluted most of the nearby freshwatersupllies.
Millions were running from their homes, their lives and everything they had, only taking with them that what they could carry.
Smaller towns that weren't hit by the fallout suddenly faced a different problem, especialy after an EMP pulse knocked out all electronics.
Daily live was knocked back the the late 19th century. Food producing towns found their crops rotting on the field as machinery failed. Industrial
towns didn't get their shipments of food and supplies on time. A femine started to erupt and a lot of people were starving. Fights would breakout
under the population about who did and who didn't get their food and fuel rations.
Airplanes suddenly had nowhere left to land as airtraffic control went silent. this ment that over a million people were in the sky, hoping they
would land somewhere without getting killed in the process.
This situation gave a lot of tension, especialy now that most towns were at the point of voting for a new mayor. Rival candidates tried to use
the dissaster to their advantage. But the elections are not the worst problem for most towns. The real problem were the continous streams of
refugees, trying to find food and shelter. Renegade Mercanery groups, hired in by the goverment, but given no real mandate. Bandit groups that attack
everybody who would cross their pad, killing all and taking whatever usefull they were carrying. But above all, the small wars between towns, mostly
about supplies one town lacks and the other town is rumoured have enough.
Once you'll be elected mayor YOU must lead your town to victory. Make a balanced decision about how to keep your people alive and safe. Build
defences around your town to keep others out. Build a solid economy based on food and supplies, industrial equipment or weapons of war. Trade with
your neighbouring towns, or conquer them by force. Only ONE thing matters at this moment,
KEEP YOUR TOWN ON THE MAP
